Working Groups

Students for a Sustainable Earth is a large cohesive organization made up of diverse and dynamic people.

During normal SSE meetings we break out into Working Groups, which people may choose based on their own interest. We have found that Working Groups allow us to work on our campaigns in a smaller, more efficient and engaging way.

Currently, we have the following working groups:

  • WMU Divestment Campaign
  • Community Garden
  • Apiculture
  • Suggest another!

Additionally, we are looking to the following for future/upcoming working groups:

  • Hydraulic Fracturing or “Fracking” in Michigan

  1. Hey recycling committee!
My name is Annie Azrak, a sophomore at K college and a member of the peace jam events planning committee. Our spring event is coming up, as I hope you have heard, and we are really striving to make it greener. We would love your participation, and advice if you are able to give either. Please get back to me as soon as is convenient.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. For the events committee:

Would like to tell you about an upcoming event.

St. Catherine of Siena church is hosting a screening of “No Impact Man” on 4/22/10 at 6:00.

Please contact me for more information.

  3. For the events committee:

I’m currently organizing a speaking tour that is a joint project of the Sierra Club, the Steelworkers, the BlueGreen Alliance, the Goldman Environmental Prize and Environmental Investigation Agency. We’re bringing in an international forest activist (and Goldman Prize winner) from Papua New Guinea and two international labor leaders from Indonesia. We’re going to be talking about illegal logging — its impact on climate change as well as on job loss in the U.S. We’re making a stop of this tour in Kalamazoo, MI on Friday, April 30th. We are looking for an organization to help us with recruitment and getting people to the event. We do not need any type of financial sponsorship. Students For Sustainable earth seems like a great organization to team up with. We really want to get a large student turn out and with a collaboration I think that would be possible.
We would really appreciate any help that you could give us, or any advice about the best way
to get the word out. I can send you the flyer.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you
